SaloJazz's Jazz tutuksi theme evenings will continue on Friday, May 5 when one of the top drummers of domestic jazz, Teppo Mäkynen, steps on the stage. The free "Get to know Jazz" themed evenings present Finnish musicians and composers as well as different styles of jazz music over the decades.
On 5 May drummer Teppo Mäkynen talks about his versatile music career and serves up samples of his groovy, virtuoso handling of the drum kit as well as the part electronics play in his music.
In the 11 May concert, drummer Jaska Lukkarinen's new project One For Joe is a tribute to jazz drummer Philly Joe Jones, who is best known as the drummer of the Miles Davis Quintet from 1955–58. The band led by Lukkarinen includes saxophonist Timo Lassy, guitarist Varre Vartiainen and bassist Antti Lötjönen.
On 26 May one of the world’s top Afrobeat musicians and singers, Seun Kuti, performs on a very rare and intimate club concert in Musine. Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 have previously performed in Finland at the Flow Festival and Pori Jazz. This year they will headline at the World Village Festival in Helsinki.
