Italo-American trio Hobby Horse gives a show at Bar Ö on Friday 17 November as a part of the Flame Jazz concert series. Be prepared for an interesting and original concoction of acoustic and electronic elements.
Hailing from Italy, Hobby Horse is a trio that draws from a myriad of genres: in their hands ingredients of prog rock, experimental jazz, bossa nova, techno and psychedelic sound art meld together into an impressive and astonishing musical whole. In their home country the group is not only appreciated in jazz circles but they have also garnered praise in the scenes of electronic and underground music.
Founded in 2010, Hobby Horse has stridden in the forefront of Italian jazz from the outset. The extremely prolific group has released five albums and performed at the biggest festivals and clubs in Europe and North America. Now they will be seen on Finnish soil for the very first time as a part of the Flame Jazz concert series.
Hobby Horse has been a pet of Italian critics throughout its career. A true celebration of contrasts, their music marries acoustic and electronic elements, balancing between chamber music and hypnotic techno, free jazz and explosive noise. Their shows are characterised by an intensive flow state that is sure to hypnotise the whole crowd.
