Band exchange project Heimojazz (”Tribal Jazz”) by Jazz Finland and Estonian Jazz Union continues in January. As part of the exchange, the Estonian and Latvian band Matīss Čudars Trio performs on Juttutupa’s Rytmihäiriö Club on Wednesday, January 15th.
Matīss Čudars Trio's instrumental jazz creates a sonic experience across genres. Jazz improvisation, bluegrass aesthetics, Western classical music, and folk music are important building blocks of their sound. The members Matīss Čudars Trio are firmly rooted in their national folk musics, which is essentially heard in their music as an encounter of Latvian and Estonian sense of time, sound and space. The band performs music composed by all three members of the band: guitarist Matīss Čudars, bassist Peedu Kass and drummer Martin Petermann.
The concert is a part of Jazz Finland's and Estonian Jazz Union's Heimojazz project. The Heimojazz is a music exchange project, which takes two Finnish bands to perform in Estonia annually, and vice versa. The concerts in Helsinki are produced together with Freelancermuusikot ry at restaurant Juttutupa's Rytmihäiriö Club.
