Jazz fusion guitarist Wayne Krantz will be hitting the road in October to play in the U.S., Asia and Europe on the extensive Undercover Pop Tour. The tour will see Krantz land in Finland on Tuesday 29 November, giving a show at Helsinki’s long-running rock club, Tavastia. The night will be culminating in the 21-piece Espoo Big Band and jazz fusion group Husband’s collab project Lauma. Tickets are now available for purchase on Tiketti.
American guitarist Wayne Krantz is known as a versatile musician, whose music combines elements of rock, blues and jazz. In the early days of his career he performed and recorded music with the likes of Steely Dan, Michael Brecker and Billy Cobham, but more recently he has been focussing on his solo projects that have allowed him give free rein to his exceptional sense of rhythm and harmony.
Undercover Pop Tour sees the visionary guitarist tackle the hits of Prince, Bob Dylan, Nine Inch Nails, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth and more. Krantz’s crew, 2X Salvation, is composed of bassist Nate Wood – a multi-instrumentalist, who has played in the bands of Sting, Chaka Khan and George Harrison, for example – and drummer Zach Danzinger, a musician, composer and producer, whose list of collaborations includes numerous notable artists: U2, Rod Stewart, Mary J. Blige, Miley Cyrus, Busta Rhymes and Primal Scream.
Espoo Big Band belongs to the elite of Finland’s big bands. The long-standing group collaborated on their newest album, released last spring, with the jazz fusion trio Husband. The album’s music is by Huband guitarists Varre Vartiainen and Jarmo Saari, and the show will be conducted by Marzi Nyman.
