Guitarist and oud player Jussi Reijonen tours Finland with his nine-piece band in February

Guitarist and oud player Jussi Reijonen, who rarely performs in Finland, will give concerts between February 24–27 in Espoo, Tampere, Oulu and Rovaniemi. The tour follows Reijonen's Three Seconds | Kolme Toista album, released in October 2022, which has collected top reviews both domestically and around the world.

Music cosmopolitan Jussi Reijonen will bring his cross-cultural band on a short tour of Finland at the end of February. Starting from Espoo on February 24 the series of concerts will take the nine-member virtuoso group to Tampere, Oulu and finally to Reijonen's hometown Rovaniemi. The Three Seconds | Kolme Toista tour will feature music from the guitarist's album of the same name, released in October on Challenge Records. The album's themes stem from the clash of cultures and the feelings of rootlessness brought by growing up in different parts of the world.

On the tour, the Eritrean trumpeter Hermon Mehari, drummer Zach Mullings and bassist Kyle Miles from the United States, trombonist Bulut Gülen and pianist Utar Artun from Turkey, Jordanian-Iraqi violinist Layth Sidiq, Palestinian cellist Naseem Alatrash and Japanese percussionist Keita Ogawa will perform alongside Reijonen.

Reviews of the album:

“The music is unlike anything in memory; it doesn’t simply alternate worldly assortments of styles but rather creates a new, genre-less, form. Three Seconds | Kolme Toista is spellbinding from beginning to end, and full of virtuoso performances; it is one of the best recordings of 2022.”

– All About Jazz (USA)

"Even in our present jazz moment, when the art form is worldwide and vital, albums that come as complete surprises are relatively rare. Three Seconds | Kolme Toista is a stunner. This album is a single, unified, diverse, overwhelming statement.”
