Funky Awards, an annual gala for Finnish jazz, funk and related genres, will be here for the 16th time already. In addition to the award ceremony, we will be in for live music from some of Finland’s leading reggae, hip hop and Afro-funk names.
The best of Finnish funk, soul, jazz reggae, hip hop, afro and groove will be awarded in the traditional Funky Awards Gala on Saturday 30 January at Helsinki’s Ravintola Pressa. The 16th Funky Awards will gather some of the most influential players under the same roof and offer full-length live shows from the electro-soul heart-throb Reino Nordin, hip hop machine Laineen Kasperi & Palava Kaupunki and the messengers of Finnish Afro-funk, The Blassics.
The best of 2015 will be awarded in the following traditional categories: Best Artist, Best Newcomer, Best Band, Best Album, Best Hip Hop Album, Best Debut Album, Best Song, Best Club, Best Live DJ. This year a new category will be introduced for music videos. The winners will be selected based on a general vote and score awarded by a jury of music professionals.
Funky Awards is hosted by Funky Amigos ry. that aims at promoting the status of Afro-American music in Finland. The association was founded in 1999.
