Funky Awards returns to celebrate the best of the soulful Suomi! The award ceremony brings together the highlights of the Finnish black roots music released during the year 2024 and searches for the hottest artists, bands, songs and music videos of them all with the help of the jury and the public vote.
This year there are eight categories. The prestigious jury has chosen the nominees and you will vote for the winners. The champions will be announced on Wednesday, February 5th.
Funky Amigos association celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024 and brought back the Funky Awards tradition to celebrate the Finnish black roots music released during the year. The highlights of the year were chosen annually from 1999 to 2015, after which the concept was put on hiatus. Now is the time to bring it back! Funky Awards 2024 – Nominees
The year 2024 was very rich in Finnish black roots music releases. Several newcomers appeared, already established artists continued to contribute and several artists and groups returned to the studio after long breaks to release the finest records of their career. Choosing the final nominees was difficult. It is a pleasure and an absolute honor to state that a lot of great black roots music was made in Finland also in 2024. Music, which may not always rise to the limelight, but which will live for a long time and soundtrack our lives from now on. Heartfelt thank you to all the artists!

The album of the year nominees were divided into three separate categories. Rytmi selection collects together the more traditional soul/funk/jazz sound, although there is also some great instrumental hip hop there. Rap is rap! The best of the finnish rap in various languages and styles. Rajojen Ylittäjä category presents music that avoids set genres and escapes the adopted classifications.
