Flame Jazz concert series will make a comeback in May–June in the form of home delivered live concerts and live streaming. Audiences can enjoy performances from Finnish jazz stars by either ordering a live concert to one's doorstep or watching a stream from Logomo.
When the audiences cannot come to concerts, Flame Jazz will bring concerts to the audience. Max Zenger, Timo Lassy, Aki Rissanen and Verneri Pohjola will each perform with their bands in Flame Jazz's concerts this May and June. Due to the corona virus pandemic, the concerts will be arranged while respecting social distancing and utilizing different forms of remote contact. Flame Jazz will host two Flame Jazz Stream concerts via the Keikalla.fi platform and two Flame Jazz Home Delivery concert days, when audience members can order a band for a private concert on one's own front step.
The live streamed concerts will be broadcast from Turku's Logomo and can be viewed via the Keikalla.fi platform. The first concert on 22nd May will host Max Zenger Globus, and the second event on 5th June will see Aki Rissanen Trio take the stage. Both concerts will also be recorded and can be viewed afterwards.
In the innovated Flame Jazz Home Delivery concerts the stars of the Finnish jazz scene will hop on to a truck and take their music to people's front steps. You can order a home delivery of jazz as a gift to a quarantined friend, for example, and audiences can enjoy the music either on their yards or looking out of a window, all the while keeping a safe distance between each other and following the current gathering restrictions. The first home delivery will be arranged on 29th May with the luminous Timo Lassy Trio, and on June 12th the truck will pick up Verneri Pohjola Quartet.
"For a while we were knocked out by corona, so being able to get back to action with Flame Jazz feels especially good now! In these exceptional times there's loads of room for new ways of thinking, and we came up with quite creative solutions to service friends of jazz. We hope that especially senior citizens will take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy live culture", says Jussi Fredriksson, director of Jazz City Turku.
The cultural industry as a whole is facing challenges due the cancellation of audience events. Flame Jazz's streaming and home delivery concerts will also feature slightly more expensive support ticketing option, through which the audience can give support to the industry.
