World music festival Etnosoi! will be organized in the capital region 31st October–8th November 2020 following contemporary COVID-19 safety restrictions. The festival program will also include names from the Finnish jazz field and bands that draw on jazz influences.
On Thursday 5th November Ilkka Arola Sound Tagine will perform at Vuotalo. The band is assembled by trumpet player-composer Ilkka Arola and plays cinematic adventure music. Ilkka Arola Sound Tagine creates an interesting mix of folk and jazz expression spiced with multi-level rhythms and cinematic soundscapes. The musical spices of the Middle East are strongly featured in the band’s music. The band, consisting of Finland's leading jazz musicians, is known for its intense gigs full of emotional expression and addictive rhythms.
On Friday 6th November will see Tjango! perform at Sello hall. The musical roots of Tjango! are in gypsy jazz as well as Latin American rhythm music. The band's biggest inspirations have been the master of jazz manouche, guitarist Django Reinhardt and Astor Piazzolla's tango nuevo. The combination of the two also gives the band its name, Tjango!
