The semi-finals of the Esko Linnavalli composition competition took place on 10 April in Helsinki. UMO Jazz Orchestra having played all 22 compositions in Antti Rissanen’s conduction, the jury – Jukka Linkola (chair), Heikki Sarmanto and Pessi Levanto – selected ten finalists. All composers competed anonymously in the qualifying heat.
