We Did It – Five Decades of Pori Jazz turns the limelight to the people behind the festival.
In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Pori Jazz Festival, Satakunta Museum plays host to a unique exhibition on the history of the festival. “We Did It – Five Decades of Pori Jazz” goes behind the scenes and tells the story of the festival from the point of view of its makers. Light will be shed on the various people and players that make and have made Pori Jazz possible for half a century – increasingly, voluntary workers.
The exhibition presents selected memories picked out of data that has been acquired through Pori Jazz 50 Years and The Jazz Heritage of Pori projects. Photographs, narrow films and various physical items – some of which have been donated by private persons – show the many faces behind the festival.
Guided tours will be organised to unveil the stories behind the material during this year’s Pori Jazz Festival. In the autumn, the exhibition will be complemented with a lecture series, jam sessions and film screenings.
The exhibition is organised in cooperation with Pori Jazz and it will run from 10 July 2015 to 10 January 2016.
