The anniversary year of Vantaan Viihdeorkesteri culminates with the three artists performing Lauri Porras “Aineen ja ajan messu” at Finlandia Hall on 19 November.

Lauri Porra’s ”Aineen ja ajan messu” premières at the Vantaan Viihdeorkesteri’s 70th anniversary concert at Finlandia Hall on Monday 19 November at 6.30 pm. The brilliant hybrid takes the listener to a journey from the beginning of the universe until the end of the times.

The two-part concert also offers the finest pieces of past decades. The orchestra’s honorary conductor Markku Johansson and chief conductor Nick Davies have chosen their favourites, which are interpreted by Paula Koivuniemi and Johanna Försti.

Lauri Porra’s ”Aineen ja ajan messu” is a multipartite piece for symphony orchestra, choir, electronics and two soloist. For the composition, Porra commissioned a text, examining the birth and progress of matter from Esko Valtaoja. Paula Vesala is heard as the dramaturge and librettist of the piece and Ringa Manner sings the role of the experiencer. The narrator is presented by Esko Valtaoja himself. Sound artist Tuomas Norvio is also seen on the stage.
