The Finnish Big Band Association and UMO Jazz Orchestra are hosting the fifth Esko Linnavalli composition contest in fall 2013.
The contest honours the founding member of UMO Jazz Orchestra, conductor Esko Linnavalli, who was the artistic director for UMO from 1975 to 1991. The competition is open for all the musicians and composers and the genre is defined loosely as "contemporary big band music".
