The electro-acoustically experimental ensemble Elifantree has released a new single. Sweden: Gold Dust is the second preview of the band’s sixth album to be released in early 2021, with international percussion artists from around the world as its guests.
The new single has been made together with Swedish drummer Andreas Werliin, known for his phenomenal groove. Werliin is especially known for the duo Wildbirds and Peacedrums, in addition to which he also tours with the band Tonbruket and singer Ane Brun, among others.
Sweden: Gold Dust was composed and recorded at a cottage on the west coast of Sweden. The song was inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the area. The wild sea, trees stripping bare of their leaves, the round cliffs of Bohuslän and long discussions about Reiki energy treatments and life in general brought the song distinctive nuances.
The new album has been a large project supported by Kone Foundation, in which sound artist Anni Elif, saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen and sound technician Joonas Saikkonen toured the world with a portable studio and recorded in unconventional environments with eight top drummers from different countries. The first single Finland: Black Sheep, released in March, was recorded with Elifantree's standard drummer Olavi Louhivuori in Finland.
