TamJazz ry and Eclipse Jazz Club are taking part in the 100th anniversary year of Finnish jazz by organizing a diverse club concert series during autumn 2026, bringing together exciting names from the Finnish jazz scene, ranging from modern jazz to more experimental expressions. All club nights for the remainder of the year will have free admission for the public.

The concerts will take place in the atmospheric setting of Kulttuuritalo Telakka in Tampere. After each evening’s performance, open jam sessions will be held, inviting both musicians and audiences to take part in the living jazz culture.

The autumn program opens on May 26 with Mozambique-born drummer, composer, and bandleader Chico Matada, whose music combines African rhythmic traditions with modern jazz, improvisation, and cinematic arrangements.

On August 25, the Helsinki-based band Kanvas takes the stage, blending jazz with pop songwriting. The group’s melodic and poetic expression is built around the compositions of pianist Andrea Martín, combining improvisation, rich harmonies, and delicate interplay.

On October 6, audiences will hear Martti Vesala Soundpost Quintet, led by trumpeter-composer Martti Vesala. The group draws inspiration particularly from the grooves of Miles Davis’ 1960s quintet and the compositional language of Wayne Shorter. The ensemble consists of leading Finnish jazz musicians and has released albums on the respected German label Ozella Music.

On November 10, the club welcomes the international jazz ensemble Equally Stupid (FI/IS/US), known for its energetic and boundary-breaking fusion of modern jazz, progressive rock, and improvisation. The lineup features Pauli Lyytinen (saxophone), Siggi Rögnvaldsson (guitar), and Sam Ospovat (drums).

The year concludes on December 15 with saxophonist and composer Masa Orpana, whose deeply swinging style and roots-oriented jazz vision have made him one of the distinctive voices of the Finnish jazz scene.

All club concerts begin at 8:00 PM, followed by open jam sessions.
