EastFest Helsinki is a new music festival in East-Helsinki, which brings unique experiences to the summer city in manorial milieu.
A four-day festival brings All Stars ensembles and swinging bands to the yard of Puotilan Kartano. Together with the All Stars ensembles is heard Kasmir, Janna, Emma Salokoski and Osmo Ikonen. The festival opens on Thursday 14 June with Timo Lassy and his band. First-time visitors in Finland, Aske Jacoby from Denmark, and Matti Klein Soul Trio from Germany, brings international colour to the day. During the four days the stage is filled with artists such as Heikki Silvennoinen together with Heikki Hela and Johanna Först, Eva + Manu and Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble. EastFest afterparty is hosted by legendary DJ Bunuel.
The family day on Sunday 17 June, gives an opportunity to have a picnic brunch accompanied on the jazz band in the spirit of New Orleans with Antti Rissanen and Jukka Eskola on the winds. Children’s orchestra Hulina and Puotila’s summer theatre’s medley of the play Viiru Muuuttaa delights the audience on Sunday. Also Shawn Huff and Jamal Wilson from the Finnish basketball’s super group, ‘Susijengi’, are seen around on Sunday.
EastFest Helsinki festival in Puotila gathers the audience from the eastern part of Helsinki and all the way from the terminal station of ‘Länsimetro’ to Matinkylä. Good transportation from railway station and airport makes it easy to arrive also outside the metropolitan area. The festival area is situated near bus routes and only a ten-minute walk from the Puotila’s underground station.
