The significant low-threshold cultural service is launching its 12th autumn season.
Known as the top name in Finnish Jazz Manouche music, Django Collective Helsinki began its journey in 2011. Led by Aki Hauru, the ensemble has since enlivened the urban cultural scene with their rootsy and cheerful Jazz Manouche music from the 1920s to the 1950s in the style of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. The core group of the orchestra consists of seasoned professional musicians who have become familiar through their particularly warm, free-entry clubs in our capital, which have featured top guests from Aili Ikonen to M.A. Numminen.
Concert halls are equally a natural habitat for this dazzling group with their style and skills. In addition to performing and developing traditional, educational yet danceable swing/jazz, they also create their own compositions that blend the old with a fresh and inventive modern jazz expression.
The 2024 autumn DCH clubs at Tenho will once again feature a cavalcade of top guests and intriguing themes, fostering exciting musical encounters and explorations of master composers' material. DCH invites the country’s leading soloists to join them on stage for an alchemical experiment, mixing different genres and backgrounds with the band’s acoustically executed swing expression.
