Dalindèo releases a video and a remix of the title track of their newest album, the acclaimed Slavic Souls. The powerball of a sextet will be playing their new material at numerous Finnish jazz festivals this summer.

Dalindèo, surely one of the most recognisable Finnish jazz ensembles, lifts a single and a remix off their recently-issued fourth album. New music videos have been made of both the original and the remix version of the title song, “Slavic Souls”.

Behind the new remix is the rising musician and producer DJ Mr. Bird, who is known for many lauded remixes and his collaboration with, e.g., vocalist Greg Blackman. In his hands the track turns from sturdy funk with a Slavic aura into an uptempo dance piece. Both videos are directed by filmmaker Joona Petterson, whose short flick The Green Serpent has been screened at numerous international film festivals.

During the summer, Dalindèo will hit the stage at, for example, the following Finnish festivals:

13 Jul Pori Jazz
22 Jul Naamat, Muurame
23 Jul H2Ö, Turku
19 Aug Turku Jazz
25 Aug Viapori Jazz feat Antti Sarpila, Helsinki

Sextet Dalindèo issued their fourth disc, Slavic Souls, in Finland and abroad on 8 April. As the title suggests, the new album makes another chapter in the group’s signature aesthetics where jazz meets soul and Slavic melancholy. Describing their style as surf-jazz-tango-extravangaza, the group has always drawn from a number of genres, including Finnish tango and popular song. The international release came out on BBE Records, while the Finnish one was released by Suomen Musiikki.

After almost ten years, the line-up of Dalindèo has undergone no changes. Lead by Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, the frontman of the orchestra Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana, he has, throughout his career, composed music where the tradition of jazz meets a myriad of other influences for a classy and refreshing effect. Like the leader, the other members saxophonist Pope Puolitaival, trumpeter Jose Mäenpää, bassist Pekka Lehti, drummer Jaska Lukkarinen and percussionist Rasmus Pailos belong to the cream of Finnish jazz. On Slavic Souls, the line-up is complemented by guest artist, coloratura soprano Anna-Kristiina Kaappola.
