Finally! The long-awaited tour by the Dalindèo celebrates their latest album Follow the Dark Money. The tour by the Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen-led sextet had to be postponed several times, but now they take the stages in Kuopio, Jyväskylä, Helsinki and Savonlinna.
The beloved jazz combo Dalindèo performs at four venues on their October tour. The concerts feature material from their newest Follow the Dark Money album that came out in late 2020. The fifth release from the band addresses the current, chaotic world order, and societal injustice. As musical torch bearers, the band lists the early 1970s fusion jazz by Miles Davis, the explosive live energy by the Charles Mingus ensembles, and the psychedelic space jazz by Sun Ra. The album finds its soulmate also in the political jazz of the 1960’s.
The Jazz-Emma award-winning Dalindèo is a six-piece band founded in 2004, known as one of the stylistic pioneers of Finnish jazz. The band's previous releases, led by jazz guitarist and composer Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, are Open Scenes (2007) and Soundtrack for the Sound Eye (2010) released by Ricky-Tick Records, and Kallio (2013) and Slavic Souls (2016) released by Suomen Musiikki. Pöyhönen is also known e.g. as the leader of Ricky-Tick Big Band and from a recent collaboration with PK Keränen of 22 Pistepirkko.
The tour is a co-production of Creatika Agency Ltd. and Finnish Jazz Federation.
