Crowdfunding to save the UMO

UMO launches a crowdfunding to save the orchestra from its economic problems.

UMO’s economic situation has long been challenging and the city of Helsinki has now appointed an administrative authority to investigate the possibilities of the orchestra’s continuation. More info of the background is available in Finnish herehere and here.

UMO has launched a crowdfunding campaign to save the orchestra’s operation. The campaign aims to secure the orchestra’s vitality, high artistic standards, new music compositions’ orders and a versatile, interesting concert programme and soloist and conductor guest throughout the country. The collected funds are directed to promote beforementioned causes in full. The minimum goal, 20 000€, guarantees the year 2018. The actual target is 100 000€, which secures the orchestra’s operation for years 2019 and 2020.

It is possible to take part in the campaign by joining ”Friends of UMO”, participating jazztasting, getting tickets to the concerts, buying a CD or helping to compose the most epic jazz song of Finland. More info of interesting rewards in mesenaatti.me/umo.

Besides the campaign, UMO arranges “Kauan eläköön UMO!” support concert at Finlandia hall on Monday 29th November. The concert will be immemorial night full of wonderful music from jazz to soul and pop. UMO welcomes soloist such as Paleface, Anna Puu, Sami Saari, Jimi Tenor, Sami Pitkämö, Aija Puurtinen, Higher Ground Vocals, Jukka Perko, Teemu Viinikainen ja Jukka Eskola. Ticket prices are from 25 to 100 euros and they are available in Ticketmaster and the campaign site.
