Creative Music and Sound Workshop in Helsinki, March 14th-15th

"Creative Music and Sound Workshop" is held in Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki on 14th-15th March. The teacher of the course is saxophonist and composer Esa Pietilä. The course is suited for all instruments and vocalists, at all levels.

Creative Music and Sound Workshop music course is for all interested in creative expression and improvisation, in every genre and instrument: students, professionals, non-professionals, all instruments, vocalists, composers. The themes of the course include combining composed and improvised music, ensemble work, sound collages, combining different genres, such as western classical music, jazz, contemporary music, folk music. The following topics are discussed: Focal Breathing and Intonation, Rhythm, Melody and Dynamics (RMD - technique), and Non-Linear Composition and Conducting Techniques. Prior experience in improvisation isn’t needed.

The event is a two-day intensive course that aims to practice and refine musical expression and different aspects of working in a band, such as communication, improvisation, and finding and developing your own voice. At the end of the course learned material will be recorded for your own usage.

The teacher of the course is saxophonist and composer Esa Pietilä, who is internationally recognized for his projects, recordings, concerts and masterclasses.

The course fee is 200€. First 100€ must be paid beforehand, rest is paid upon arrival. Register here. Registration beforehand is recommended since there's space for only 25 participants.
