Case Kämäräinen’s tour takes its audience on an imaginary journey into storytelling jazz

Case Kämäräinen is on tour in Finland, March 23–28.

Case Kämäräinen is a modern jazz ensemble whose music is evocative, narrative-driven, and easily approachable. The compositions draw inspiration from nature, the changing seasons, and everyday moments – inviting listeners on a vivid imaginative journey.

Composer and drummer Tomi Kämäräinen has found the vibraphone to be a central tool in his creative process. Many of the harmonies and melodies were born from moments of free improvisation on the vibraphone, later shaped into fully realized compositions for this particular ensemble.

Alongside the international lineup, a predominantly Finnish ensemble has emerged. The core trio features pianist Tuomo Uusitalo (Pori Jazz Artist of the Year 2023), young virtuoso saxophonist Emil Dobosiewicz, and internationally active drummer Tomi Kämäräinen. Joining as guest bassist is Antti Lötjönen, recipient of the 2024 Yrjö Award.

“Even when the pieces displayed intriguing structural fragmentation, we were already immersed in a richly varied and multicolored musical journey.”
– Pentti Ronkanen, Suomijazz.fi

“The carefully developed tonal ideas, strong interplay, and the patience to focus on what truly matters allow the listener to surrender to the music.”
– Matti Komulainen, Turun Sanomat

The tour program features material from the 2024 release Live at SaloJazz as well as entirely new music composed in Los Angeles during a residency at the Finnish Musicians’ Union.
