Intuition, which often guides us in both everyday life and other decisions, served as the guiding principle for Case Kämäräinen’s album Mystique From The North, released last autumn. Tomi Kämäräinen approached composing new music, placing complete trust in his intuition. Almost every song’s style and rhythmic framework began with “drum grooves” that he had improvised and put forward for the new album. In his composition work, Kämäräinen utilized the sound of a British vibraphone from the 60s, which he had grown fond of. Thus, the harmony and melodies of the compositions stemmed from freely improvised vibraphone pieces, which he adapted to fit his rhythmic ideas. The rest of the band members’ strong free improvisation propelled Kämäräinen’s music forward, allowing each member to realize their own vision as a musician and thereby contribute their unique touch to the whole.
Special guests on the tour will be vibraphonist Severi Pyysalo and bassist Antti Lötjönen. The concert will feature both new and older pieces from the band’s repertoire.
