One of top names in Finnish jazz scene, bassist Antti Lötjönen tours with drummer legend Jeff “Train” Watts’ band in Europe during 20 to 25 of November. In addition, Lötjönen can be spotted in Finnish concerts stages together with bands such as 3TM, Timo Lassy Band and Ricky-Tick Big Band.
Known as the cornerstone of several Finnish jazz ensembles, bassist Antti Lötjönen is seen in Europe together with American drummer virtuoso Jeff “Train” Watts and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel in November. Watts is one of the greatest jazz musicians of our time and the versatile drummer has worked with names such as Wynton & Branford Marsaliksen, Ravi Coltranen and Michael Breckerin. The American-Finnish trio heads for a five-concert tour during 20 to 25 of November, stopping in legendary Pizza Express, Lyon and Fontainebleau in French, Kalisz in Poland and Bimhuis in Amsterdam.
“Watts is definitely on of the most prominent jazz drummers of his generation, even the greatest for some”, Lötjönen comments. “When during secondary school I listened the Marsalis brothers’ albums, I could not have dreamed that one day their drummer asks me to join his tour. It still feels unreal. Once more this is yet another indication of the level our small Northern jazz community operates.”
