Baltic Sea Day is celebrated on Thursday 27 August through various events. Archipelago Sea Jazz and Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association will organize a jazz concert at the Forum Marinum in Turku, where the Jussi Fredriksson Trio will perform. The concert's entrance fees are collected as voluntary donations to the association's activities.
Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association and the festival series Archipelago Sea Jazz will celebrate Baltic Sea Day on Thursday 27th August with a unique concert on the deck of the association's vessel M/S Roope at 7 pm. The concert can also be followed live on the Facebook page of Archipelago Sea Jazz and Keep the Archipelago Tidy.
At the Jazz Concert, pianist Jussi Fredriksson's fresh compositions inspired by the shades of the archipelago will have their world premiere. In the trio, bass is played by Jori Huhtala and drums by Mika Kallio. The concert kickstarts the collaboration between Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association and Archipelago Sea Jazz, which aims to pay special attention to responsible tourism and cultural activities in the archipelago area.
A handful of the most avid music lovers can enjoy the concert the deck of Roope, and the concert can also be viewed from the beach. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the boat shed at the end of Forum Marinum on the Turku Castle side. The audience are asked to pay attention to safety distances and good hand hygiene, as well as proper coughing habits. It is a good idea to prepare for possible queuing situations with a face mask. You must not take part in Baltic Sea Day events if you are feeling ill or symptomatic.
