Autumn's HERD club concerts a success

HERD and guests charmed the audience four times this autumn.

The season's HERDclub series closed last Saturday at Lahti Pikkuteatteri. The four concerts held at the venue this autumn were a success, with praising feedback from the audiences and an average attendance of 120 people per concert. The favourite clearly was the final edition, organised last Saturday, with vocalists Aili Ikonen and Vieno Kekkonen fronting the trio. In the past autumn HERD has been joined by such notable guests as Eero Koivistoinen, Anni Elif and Verneri Pohjola. The trio is composed by vibes player Panu Savolainen, also the leader of the group, bassist Mikko Pellinen and drummer Tuomas Timonen.

The future of the HERD club series remains undetermined for the present. However, vibraphonist Panu Savolainen will return to the Pikkuteatteri stage next spring leading his group Panu Savolainen Toivo at an album-launching show on Saturday 7 March at 7:00PM. The album pays homage to the Finnish composer Toivo Kärki, whose 100th anniversary will be celebrated next year.
