This autumn's Jazz & Etno series offers 8 concerts in total.

This autumn, Oulu Music Festival is collaborating with the Oulu-based Folk Music Association Rällä and Elojazz for the Jazz & Etno series. The joint aim is to offer concert experiences to the Oulu audience and to better reach both jazz and folk music enthusiasts, welcoming them to the concerts.

With the Folk Music Association Rällä, the autumn program includes four Finnish Folk Music Association tour concerts. The series kicks off on Wednesday, September 11th with Timo Rautiainen and Ville Ojanen Band, followed by performances from Luomuduo, Norhflip, and concluding with Räsynukke on Friday, December 20th.

On the jazz side, the autumn concert series will feature the Finnish Jazz Federation tour concert with Adele Sauros Quartet on Saturday, September 11th, and a joint concert by Pauli Lyytinen + Jacky Molard & Francois Corneloup 4tet as part of the Free Voices tour on Wednesday, October 2nd. Oulu Music Festival’s Artistic Director Kari Ikonen will also perform with his brand-new trio Wishamali in November, followed by the Christmas Jazz concert by Tapio Maunuvaara Quintet on December 13th, transitioning into a festive atmosphere.

Before the official start of the Jazz & Etno series, there will be free jazz events for the public in August. The Jazz Pre-Party will be held at Jumpru Pub's patio in connection with Elojazz on August 2-3, followed by an evening with TT Big Band at the same venue during Oulu Arts Night on August 15th.

Maria Mannermaa, the acting CEO of Oulu Music Festival, emphasizes the importance of collaboration as a crucial part of the festival's operations.

“There is strength in collaboration, and a passion for music unites us! By combining expertise and resources, we can offer increasingly diverse experiences to the audience. Moreover, the discussions held during the planning of the collaboration with wonderful partners provide inspiration and motivation for our work,” says Mannermaa.

“I believe that the enthusiasm and positive energy will also be conveyed to the audience and the concert artists!”

The autumn concerts will be held in new or renovated venues: Pikisaaren provides an atmospheric setting for concerts at Mallassauna. This autumn, the City Hall will reopen after renovation, giving the audience the opportunity to experience the ambiance of the City Hall's festive hall through the concerts held there.
