Due to the new regulations made by the government in week 40 and the restrictions of the Regional State Administrative Agency, Astoria Jazz Festival and Pete Parkkonen & Free Fall concert, scheduled respectively from 9 to 11 October and for 16th October, cannot be implemented at this time.
The organizers tried to see the situation to the end, but had to ultimately make the unfortunate decision and postpone Astoria Jazz Festival until 2021. At that time, the festival will primarily host as its guests those artists who were scheduled to perform in October 2020. The festival will announce a new date soon.
Astoria's CEOs Tero Lyyra and Minna Pentti commented on the decision: "We apologize for this situation that unfortunately none of us can influence. That is why, in this difficult situation, we are building the Astoria venue that when we get rid of this vicious virus, we can offer both the performers and the audience a new number one club in the city - Astoria Club!"
