The first We Jazz Rising Star Award means support for the debut album of a promising young band. AR Quartet performs live at the We Jazz 2013 festival in Helsinki's Koko Jazz Club on December 12th.
Pianist-composer Artturi Rönkä's AR Quartet's is awarded with the Rising Star prize at the week-long festival that takes place on December 9 - 14.
The award is a comprehensive support package for the band's debut album, which is to be released on Jazz HUG in early 2014. The label is brand new, and AR Quartet's debut is also Jazz HUG's debut. The Rising Star package comprises promotional pictures, album cover and PR-campaign by We Jazz creative agency.
"We hope that professional help in the right streak will encourage the young band to take the next important step on their career", says Matti Nives, Executive Director in We Jazz Ltd. "AR Quartet deserves the award for their well-started concert activity, persistent work for developing the band as a whole, and of course for the high quality of their music. The ideology behind the award is to create resources for young bands to find and hire the necessary backup for their career."
AR Quartet (Artturi Rönkä, piano; Sampo Kasurinen, sax; Eero Seppä, double bass; Jonatan Sarikoski, drums) performs live at Koko Jazz Club on the 12th of December.
