The 28th Oulu Music Festival takes place on 11 - 24 March 2018, and the festival will host international master classes now for the sixth time. Master classes in violin, cello and piano will be organised in week 11 and the pop/jazz master classes in week 12. The application deadline is 22 January.
Classical master classes are taught by one of Finland’s most renowned instrumentalists, violinist Elina Vähälä, and young cellist Jonathan Roozeman and pianist Valeria Resjan, both of whom have been successful in several international music competitions.
In the sphere of pop and jazz, the instructors are Finnish electric bass virtuoso Lauri Porra, American jazz violinist Zach Brock who won a Grammy for his collaboration with the funk powerball Snarky Puppy, and professor and jazz pianist Phil Markowitz of Manhattan School of Music. The teachers’ lectures are an elemental part of the master classes.
