The Finnish Jazz Federation awarded Jussi Sierla for his work for Finnish jazz culture.
Jussi Sierla received a special Andania award from the Finnish Jazz Federation on Saturday, May 18 at the Young Nordic Jazz Comets band contest in Helsinki.
Sierla was the Chairman for Joensuu's jazz society Jazzherho -76 from 1986 until recent and he has created a vibrant live jazz scene in Southern Carelia.
Andania award is named after the famous S/S Andania ship that "brought" jazz to Finland in 1926. The Jazz Federation has handed out Andania awards since 1988.
