The quartet, led by drummer-composer Joonas Leppänen, returns with a new full-length album today. In addition to Leppänen, Alder Ego consists of trumpet player Tomi Nikku, tenor saxophonist Jarno Tikka, bassist Nathan Francis and guest artist harpist Natalia Castrillón.
Drummer-composer Joonas Leppänen's quartet Alder Ego returns today April 9 with a new full-length album released by We Jazz Records. III is a sequel to the second album II, which gathered widespread notice hereand elsewhere in 2018.
The pre-released singles from the album have risen to Spotify’s most watched jazz playlists, and the opening song for III, Love And Maladies, can be found on the updated Jazz X-Press list today. Peter Slavid, a critic of the British London Jazz News website, praises III in his recent record review, saying the recording quality lies in individual solos, soloist interactions and melodies.

Alder Ego’s III is released today April 9, 2021 on all digital platforms. The black and orange color vinyl will be available in record stores May 14, 2021. The band's two We Jazz releases (II & III) will also be available in a 2LP package.
