The Archipelago Sea Jazz festival series reaches its grand finale next week in Mariehamn! Åland Sea Jazz invites you to enjoy the maritime atmosphere of late summer, outstanding Nordic artists and the unique setting of the Åland Islands. From 20 to 23 August, Mariehamn comes alive with top-class Nordic jazz, the atmosphere of the archipelago and the beautiful light of late summer. Over four days, the festival presents an outstanding line-up of Finnish, Swedish and Åland-based artists.
The programme features internationally acclaimed Åland pianist Vladimir "Vova" Shafranov with his Swedish trio, leading Finnish jazz guitarist Teemu Viinikainen with his trio, Swedish Grammis Award-winning vocalist Sara Aldén with her trio, Sweden's Simon Berggren Trio with its modern piano sound, and the popular Finnish funk-fusion band PEELA.
The Åland flavour is further highlighted by Anna Rydén & Richard Palmer Duo, as well as Fredrik Erlandsson, Erik Karlsson and Maria Stenberg-Haug, who will perform at the traditional Jazz Service on Sunday.
The concerts span elegant piano jazz, masterful guitar playing, distinctive vocal jazz, melodic Nordic sounds, funk and fusion. Late-night jam sessions bring spontaneity and surprises to the weekend, while the Sunday Jazz Service offers a unique and memorable conclusion to the festival.
