Copenhagen is the February hub for five Nordic jazz organizations, 17 clubs and festivals and five emerging bands to meet, present their talent and work together to strive for a sustainable tomorrow in Nordic jazz production. The event is a part of a two-year project called Nordic Jazz Comets Dagsverke. The focus of the networking project is both, on artistic expression and experience, and on social and ecological accountability. In Copenhagen on February 9–10, 2022, the group of jazz professionals volunteer for a day in local environmental and social justice projects, and on the following day all the stakeholders are invited to hear some of the freshest Nordic jazz at a five-band showcase at Jazzhus Montmartre.
The network received 88 band applications, whereof five ensembles were selected to participate. Finland is represented by by Adele Sauros Quartet. Nordic Culture Point granted support to the Nordic Jazz Comets Dagsverke project in 2022–2023. Jazz Finland, along with other Nordic jazz organizations Jazz Danmark, Svensk Jazz, Norsk jazzforum and the Icelandic FÍH Music School form the advisory board for the project, and also co-fund its operations. Dagsverke continues the footsteps of the previous 2020–2021 project, Nordic Jazz Comets In The Key Of Green, that studied environmentally-friendly solutions for touring in the Nordic states. The 2022 main event takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the 2023 edition will be located in Sweden.
