The main concert lineup of Pori Jazz is complemented by a dozen strong names in rhythm music.

American guitarists Al Di Meola and Devon Allman are new additions to this summer's Pori Jazz. Al Di Meola has made a strong mark in the fusion of jazz, rock, and world music. He's also known for his collaborations with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucía. This trio of top guitarists has toured the world and released popular albums, bringing a new audience to flamenco-jazz. Making his debut at Pori Jazz, the master guitarist will perform under the name Al Di Meola: The Electric Years.

The Devon Allman Project proudly embraces the best traditions of Southern rock by tastefully blending different music genres and mastering the characteristic jamming of the Allman Brothers tradition. Guitarist Devon Allman has a strong connection to this music through his family, as his father was the musician and singer/songwriter Gregg Allman. Devon Allman will also be performing in Pori for the first time.

Also performing at Kirjurinluoto are saxophonists Joshua Redman and Nubya Garcia with their bands. Joshua Redman is one of the most respected saxophonists in jazz today, with 16 albums to his name, including the latest release "Where Are We" in collaboration with American singer Gabriella Cavas. Material from this album will be heard in Pori in July.

Saxophonist Nubya Garcia has quickly risen to the top of British jazz. While rooted in jazz tradition, her multicultural background adds its own flavor to her music. Her concerts have been recorded at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Kirjurinluoto will also feature four different pianists. Brazilian Amaro Freitas's music is Afro-Brazilian jazz with elements of samba. Cuban-born Harold López-Nussa's piano exploits his country's rich musical tradition, as does Armenian-born Tigran Hamasyan, who combines American jazz tradition with Armenian folk music. English pianist and singer Fabiana Palladino's music is close to soul and the legendary Motown productions.

American soul/funk music is strongly represented in Pori. From Los Angeles comes the Scary Pockets band, which creates new funk versions of old hits. Funky reinterpretations include songs by The Police, The Beatles, and Guns N' Roses. New Yorkers Adi Oasis and INIKO blend R&B, modern soul, and funk.

English saxophonist and singer Alabaster DePlume blends spiritual jazz, British folk, and afrobeat in his music. He's also a spoken word artist, contributing to song lyrics and concert introductions.
