Kannaste-Viinikainen-Riippa, or KVR Trio, was originally founded as saxophonist Jussi Kannaste, the Sony Jazz Prize Award winner of 2005, started a new group for a Finnish Jazz Federation tour. The group's repertoire consists of Kannaste's and Viinikainen's compositions, complemented by a select number of jazz standards in trio arrangements. However, one of this groups most distinctive traits is free, creative improvisation, the talent of living in the now. Their debut came out on Jaskaa label in early 2013.
