biography
Risto Takala is a drummer originally from Kuopio, Finland. He started playing violin when he was 7 years old. A few years later he started playing drums with a wind orchestra and since then he has played in many bands ranging from pop to jazz. Risto is interested in different types of music from folk to soul and inspired by fusions of different genres. Especially jazz has influenced his style of playing. Risto has performed around Finland and Europe in different line-ups from a conscript marching band to small jazz bands and big bands.
Risto graduated from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor’s degree in Pop and Jazz Music. Nowadays Risto works as a freelance musician and as a music teacher.
