Biography

The acclaimed and award-winning Superposition returns with their highly anticipated second album in July 2024.

Superposition II is an impressive next step from a group whose music exudes the freedom of acoustic free jazz while also offering profound melodic depth. Superposition creates touching music that reveals new layers with each listen.

The band consists of drummer Olavi Louhivuori, saxophonists Linda Fredriksson and Adele Sauros, and bassist Mikael Saastamoinen. All of them are familiar to those who follow the new Finnish jazz scene, and three of the four members have also honed their ensemble playing in the widely touring Linda Fredriksson Juniper group in recent years. Superposition also garnered significant interest both in Finland and internationally with their debut album, quickly becoming a favorite in live performances due to their intense shows. All indications are that their rise will continue with the new album.

Containing nine tracks, Superposition II is a testament to the equal and collaborative nature of the band. All members have composed pieces for the new album, creating a cohesive whole that reflects the voices of all four members. This is small group jazz at its finest: personal, unique, and above all, musically curious and forward-looking – together.
