Biography
Panu Savolainen Toivo released the concert album Kärki konsertissa in late 2021, recorded originally on the centennial anniversary of composer Toivo Kärki’s birth in 2015 with Helsinki City Orchestra and conducted by Jaakko Kuusisto.
The album consists of Toivo Kärki’s classic tunes, which were interpreted as fresh and surprising jazz-inspired arrangements by Panu Savolainen, guitarist Teemu Viinikainen and bassist Jori Huhtala together with Helsinki City Orchestra. Marzi Nyman, Mikko Hassinen, Timo Alakotila and Panu Savolainen are responsible for the symphony orchestra arrangements based in part on the arrangements of the Music by Toivo Kärki album released by Panu Savolainen Toivo in 2015. The highly acclaimed concert ensemble was performed at Kärki’s 100th anniversary year with a total of five different symphony orchestras conducted by Jaakko Kuusisto.
