Biography
Ars Transmutatoria Iku-Turso is the first of two sessions featuring 12 new scores. Here they are a bit different from the previous Ars Transmutatoria visual compositions as they all have a similar thematic construction. The images feature scenes with zoomorphic creatures, ancient or hybrid at their center.
In this Helsinki session, through improvisation, the band created the music and gave life to the frozen moments in the separate stories of Iku-Turso, the legendary Finnish sea monster chasing a longship, a blue hornbill giving birth to a varan, the extinction of a species of lagomorph, giant rabbit, the bull who contracted chicken pox from a prehistoric winged centipede and finally, the proboscis half human half monkey playing the kendang.
