This week will be the last chance to see Dalindèo + Nieminen & Litmanen together on stage. Also NYConnection will end their tour, celebrating the newest relaese, at Koko Jazz Club.

Dalindèo and Nieminen & Litmanen, two heavyweight talents of the Finnish jazz scene, have joined forces on a collaborative tour! The grand finale will be seen at Klubi, in Tampere, this Wednesday.

During its 10-year existence, the Emma-awarded Dalindèo have proven to have a knack of merging different musical genres in a unique way. Their latest album, “Kallio”, took the group from the Brazilian dance floors of their early career to surf guitars and the bohemian side of the Finnish capital, and it is surely from here where the Balkan melodies and the influence of Finnish popular music of the1950s come from. Dalindèo is made of a strongly melodic style and cinematic feels and they are determined to make every member in the audience move.

The duo Nieminen & Litmanen has established itself as an inimitable instrumental dance band. This group has trusted its signature Hammond sound for almost ten years - successfully. From the beginning, Nieminen & Litmanen have made music that is both true to their taste and to the musical traditions their pieces draw from. And these traditions range from blues, rock, reggae, afro and soul to funk, popular music, rockabilly, punk, jazz and bossa nova.

Dalindèo + Nieminen & Litmanen at Klubi on Wednesday 7 May at 8:00PM.

NYConnection who have been celebrating  their new album, "Urban Griot", by touring Southern Finland, will take the stage at Koko Jazz Club in Helsinki.

NYConnection is a quartet, formed by three top-notch Finnish jazz musicians and the internationally acknowledged Israeli pianist, Roy Assaf. On their new album, NYConnection has combined traditional elements of jazz, such as harmonic patterns and sophisticated swing, with a melodicism borrowed from the sonic realm of folk music. As to the compositional method, the group has kept the tradition of jazz music constantly on their mind, while taking a more narrative approach; namely, by drawing from stories and songs. The group has been inspired especially by Griots, West-African singers, poets, and storytellers, famed for their skill of bringing old tales to life in the now. Thus it is no surprise that improvisation has a key role in these jazz Griots’ music and that the pieces are based on the group’s shared experiences and stories.

Join the party at Koko on Tuesday 6 May, at 7:30PM!
