Mopo trio - saxophonist Linda Fredriksson, bassist Eero Tikkanen and drummer Eeti Nieminen - describe their second release Beibe as a growing story, which is not all fun and games. The record hits also deeper grounds, yet studies life through a warming filter. Nature also plays an essential part in Mopo's music, and this time also the recording digs deep into earthly, organic expression, since the album is taped on reel-to-reel. On Beibe, the band sounds pure and punk, just like they are.
Mopo is one of the biggest upcoming names in Finnish jazz. They already have had concerts at the Lonon Jazz Festival, We Jazz 2013 and Flow Festival, and they have performed on BBC's Radio 3 program. Mopo was also noted in the American jazz bible Downbeat a while ago.
"Beibe is about love. Beibe is about losing. Beibe means so many things to us: this life, loved ones, wonderful women, wonderful men. We're also each others' beibes."
