Finnish Kadi Quartet performed in the Nordic YNJC showcase for European jazz professionals

Six young and talented bands got on stage at the annual Young Nordic Jazz Comets showcase in Norway's Trondheim yesterday night. For the first time the event took place within Europe Jazz Network's General Assembly. EJN is the network for European jazz professionals, so Kadi Quartet got an audience of festival promoters, concert organizers, jazz media and other key figures in the industry.


Tampere Jazz Happening again on Oct 31 - Nov 3, 2013

Tampere Jazz Happening brightens up the beginning polar night for the 32nd time with a diverse setting of contemporary jazz. The Festival combines the most interesting jazz musicians from five different continents: Australia, North and South America, Africa and Europe. 24 line-ups with 16 international bands arrive to Tampere.


New jazz event in Helsinki in December

Organized on 9 to 14 December, We Jazz 2013 showcases both domestic and international jazz artists in its week-long run of concerts. Acts featured in the bill include Tomasz Stanko Quintet, Timo Lassy Band, Andrew Cyrille & Mikko Innanen, Jukka Eskola Orquesta Bossa, Black Motor & Verneri Pohjola and Klima Kalima. The event spreads itself across town, touching down on various different venues ranging from the Savoy Theatre to the intimate surroundings at Teatteri Kallio. In addition to concerts, We Jazz 2013 features a jazz-themed gallery exhibition.



The faces of Jazz Finland turn to the future

The website was officially launched on the 5th of September in the Music House in Helsinki, followed by a panel discussion on the future of suomijazz. Jazz Finland's three faces, vocalist Aili Ikonen, trumpeter Verneri Pohjola and drummer-pianist-composer Jukkis Uotila, share their views on the website and their hopes for the future.



Porvoo Jazz Festival kicks off

On Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September, the first ever Porvoo Jazz Festival, will be presenting a series of concerts in the heart of Porvoo.


HERD club goes tri-city touring

Vibraphone trio HERD hosts a series of clubs monthly during the fall of 2013. The first three nights feature saxophone virtuoso Jukka Perko.



Flame Jazz releases fall season programme

Flame Jazz continues to enrich the culture life of Turku by thirteen live jazz concerts and a cruise. This season's main stage will be the Swedish Theatre, Åbo Svenska Teater.
