The Vilma Timonen Quartet, also known as VTQ, is a fusion band that plays contemporary folk music combining musical elements from all over the world, blended together with the ancient sound of the kantele.

The band’s repertoire is a synthesis of compositions by Vilma Timonen and a collection of traditional melodies adapted by the quartet. The result is an epoch-making musical arrangement that accentuates strong vocals and rich and multifaceted sound of kantele.

The group has released three albums, the second of which won the Emma prize in the category of best ethno album in 2009.
