Piip is a jazz quartet that performs compositions inspired by nature. Laura Helander's compositions address climate anxiety, the sorrow caused by loss of nature, and love for the environment. The instrumental music of the band draws influences from prog rock, Finnish folk music, and pop.

The band's keyboardist and vibraphonist, Mikko Antila, is known from ensembles such as Peela and Maan Tila. Tatu Back plays bass for Erja Lyytinen and composes music for his own band, Tatu ja Tutkimusmatkailijat. Benjamin Nylund performs in various ensembles, including those of Ida Alasen and Sami Jaakkola. Laura Helander serves as the band's composer and saxophonist and is part of the Finnish soul band, Maagine. Helander has worked extensively as a freelance musician and has composed commissioned pieces for groups like the Jyväskylä Big Band.

The band released a studio live album titled Täällä oli kaunista kerran in September 2022, dedicated to clear-cut forests. Piip will release its first album in November 2024 through Eclipse Music.
