Panu Savolainen Proprius is a fresh quartet that is made up of top names of the Finnish jazz life, chosen by vibraphonist Panu Savolainen. The group made its debut at prestigious Viapori Jazz festival in 2011. Singer Aili Ikonen and bass player Jori Huhtala both are well-known from the award-winning Finnish group Kvalda, for example. Guitarist Timo Kämäräinen is known as one of the most all-around musician in Finland, playing with Jukka Perko, Kimmo Pohjonen and Ismo Alanko, to name a few.
The music of Panu Savolainen Proprius is mostly built around the strong, melodic compositions by Savolainen, and the unique instrumentation of the group. The tunes move from strong moods to highly energic jazz improvisation.
