Founded in 2018, Meow Piglet is an experimental and electronic pop band formed by keyboardist-vocalist Aurora Hentunen and multi-instrumentalist Branislav Vlaisavljevic.
"We aim to think outside the box of the traditional pop/rock song structure and deconstruct its typical elements," commented the duo.
The band's debut album, Deeper, was released in December 2023. Meow Piglet's music has already been featured on several domestic radio stations such as Radio Helsinki, Yle Radio Suomi, and Radio Keskisuomalainen. Their songs have also been played on smaller radio shows in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.
Hentunen has played in numerous ensembles and has also composed commissioned works for big bands, but she is best known for her jazz ensemble, the Aurora Hentunen Quintet. Hentunen has also released two albums (Second Spring, 2018 and Frost, 2019), which have been well-received both in Finland and internationally. Hentunen and Vlaisavljević met in 2016 while studying at the jazz department of the Amsterdam Conservatory. Vlaisavljević has been playing bass in various ensembles in Serbia, the Netherlands, and Finland since 2010. He also works as a sound engineer and producer.
