When jazz musicians start a punk band that plays jazz, the result is Linear John. Founded in 2015, Linear John combines technical skill and primitive energy in a fresh way. Saxophonist Markus Holkko leads the band, and has written and produced the music for the bands two albums. In Spring 2021 Linear John releases its third album for the German label AgogoRecords. The album has been recorded in Helsinki and Los Angeles.

The band's debut album Hits with a Twist (2016) was an invitation to the world of peculiar sounds, odd time signatures and forms never encountered before. In less than 45 minutes of playing time Linear John manages to be tough in the night, quite romantic and more than eccentric while not forgetting a protective nature.
