Drummer Reino "Reiska" Laine (b. 1946) played himself into the history books of Finnish jazz already in the late-1960s and has influenced the field of Finnish jazz in several ways, not only as a talented drummer. Almost all the veteran band leaders of Finland from Eero Koivistoinen to Olli Ahvenlahti and Junnu Aaltonen used Laine as the drummer in their bands and studio line-ups. Also the foreign top artists visiting Finland has had Laine as the drummer of their bands on gigs and on recordings.
