Bass player Jori Huhtala (b. 1984) was born in Jyväskylä, Central Finland, and became drawn to both bass playing and jazz music at an early age. It was in his hometown that he initially began his studies at the local conservatory, graduating in 2004 as a pop and jazz musician. The doors of the esteemed Sibelius Academy of Helsinki opened to the young bassist in 2006, and he graduated with a master's degree in early 2014 from the academy’s jazz department. The year 2010-2011 was spent on the other side of the Gulf of Bothnia, in Sweden, studying music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

Besides bass playing, Huhtala is also an active composer and writes music for many of his groups. Currently he works as a teacher at the Sibelius Academy and at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Since 2015 Huhtala has also been a member of the Finnish Jazz Federation's Board of Directors.
